HOME

HOME is a short fiction film about the uncomfortable friction between two characters trapped in a (self-) destructive relationship. Should you love another if it is at your own expense? At what point do good intentions turn into suffocating love? When is protecting the other wrong or even harmful? HOME is a film about all-consuming devotion and the urge to escape.

Isolated from the outside world lies a stunningly large hermetically sealed concrete villa. The chilly tranquility that hangs over the surrounding field makes the silence feel loud. In an attempt to protect each other, the situation in the villa has become unbearable. A mother obsessively cares for her daughter who is sick and unable to walk. Until she discovers that her daughter is only presenting herself to her as incapacitated and pretending to be sick. HOME is a short fiction film about two characters who hold each other captive in a (self-)destructive form of interaction. Can you continue to love someone if it is at your own expense? A film about all-consuming devotion and the urge to escape.
